What Are Pallet Racking Inspections?

Pallet racking inspections, often referred to as pallet racking safety inspections, are predominantly health and safety checks.

A visual inspection is undertaken by a qualified member of our team to check the warehouse and system.

An annual thorough racking inspection should be undertaken annually, with smaller inspections completed between these to keep an eye on health and safety issues. We will set up a bespoke schedule based on your pallet racking storage system.

Inspections will include:

  • Visual inspection – checking beams, uprights, bracing, baseplates, anchors, welds and joints
  • Alignment checks – straightness, levelling, horizontal and vertical alignment
  • Load capacity compliance – signs of overcapacity and weight distribution
  • Safety feature inspection – pins and clips and protectors and guardrails
  • Damage identification – signs of corrosion, rust or damage
  • Component integrity – conditions of bracing, bolts and fasteners
  • Floor evenness and integrity
  • Signage and labels – load capacity labels and safety signs being used
  • Written reports of our findings and actions to be taken

Our Inspection Process

Our inspections are swift and thorough with minimal disruption to your operations.

A typical inspection will follow these steps:

  1. From the floor, the inspector will methodically inspect each element of the system in accordance with SEMA guidelines.
    • In this inspection, they will check racking components, such as the uprights and beams, and note any that are broken or missing.
    • They will also note any potential causes of problems or accidents, such as incorrectly stored pallets or debris on the floor.
  2. Problems and damage will be noted and given a code relating to the severity of the problem and the urgency of a repair.
  3. The inspector will write up a full report on their findings, priorities and repair recommendations.
  4. You will be expected to arrange resolutions that comply with the recommendations and priorities.

As pallet racking specialists, we offer maintenance and repair services, providing an all-in-one service.
